What?

How is your memory? I seem to forget what day it is or when I should be at an appointment, I need to start writing things down on a very large calendar. This could be my next project…a big chalkboard. I will think about that tomorrow and then I will forget to remember.

Anyway it is Weds, and I went to the market, worked on the knitting project, and took pictures of Finley. Oh, I took a bath. Big Day! But it is only 4:30 maybe something wonderful will happen…like doing the laundry that is calling my name.

Here are a couple of pictures, it’s the best I can do today, I forgot what I was really going to do!!!!!

Flowers for our staircase!

I went looking for a string of decorative lights for my staircase and found nothing that I liked.

These lights are to help us see in the middle of the night as we come downstairs.

I was feeling very frustrated when a thought came to mind! I can make my own. So I went to the dollar store and bought some very pale peach flowers. I took them all apart. Got out my ever faithful glue gun and started putting them on the string of lights.

So here is what I did…

So this is how I spent my Sunday afternoon. Now I am ready for a trip to the Abby….see you there!!!

No! Stop! I am not ready for the Downton Abby to end this season.

I will be waiting to return to the Abby!!!! You know where I will be Sunday evening.

So far today has been spent in family research and some knitting. I should be outside because it is beautiful. bye for now…out the door I go!!!!

All Thumbs…Learning to Knit!!!

It was so much fun, I had to laugh at myself and that is always a good thing. I had a great time and Gracie is very patient. Along with being a very special friend. What have I done so far, not much. I have taken more out than I have put in. For those of you who knit, I look pretty funny right now. Often confused, but determined.

          Knitting Pledge…..

1. I promise not to cry!

2. No throwing of knitting needles…they could put your eye out.

3. Do not yell at Finley for getting the yarn.

4. Pay attention to my husband while knitting even though you are trying to concentrate.

5. I will keep trying even if I feel like I am all thumbs.

6. I will not stop cleaning house while I go through this learning curve.

7. And always remember that no one made you do this…I love you Gracie!!!

Today I am going to a knitting class at our church. My friend Gracie is teaching this class. We will be making prayer shawls.

It will be fun to learn something new.

My husband built these stairs.

I found this dresser a few years ago. It was a mess. The top was a veneer and it had very little going for it, but I loved it and after some sanding, and painting it became very special to me. Now I am looking for a bench or chair to go with it.

This old cabinet was in my office downstairs. I had all kinds of stuff in it. But it works so well in my room. Soon this wall will have a long bookshelf, that will be great because all our books are in plastic containers. This was made by a friend in our church many years ago. I bought it at the estate sale…love it!

This is the original chimney that comes up through the house to the rough. It was from the kitchen wood cooking stove in the kitchen. 1906. I wanted to keep it and I am so glad that we did. And now it is where I am hanging some old family pictures. This picture is of Arney’s grandparents…the Neely’s…Willy Lee and Jessie.

Saturday is all about Finley

 

Our little Buddy had to go to the Vet today. We have had wind and some branches were in the backyard, He hurt his eye on one of the fallen branches. so he is getting eye drops and lots of love. Vet sad it was good that we brought him right in because he scratched his little eye.He will be fine. Thought I would send a picture of him taken a couple of weeks ago. It scared us a bit…on our Saturday. Hugs, Mary

 

Handy Hint from my kitchen

I was watch a commercial on dish washing additives to help get the film off dishes. They are not cheap, and I guess they work.

But this works great for me. use your regular dishwasher soap. and add one cup of vinegar into the bottom of your dishwasher. Then was like normal.

It is really cheap and for me it works great. Just a thought on this Thursday afternoon.

Wishing for Spring

I am starting to really think about our garden this year. This year Is going to be a flower year for me. It has been awhile since I planted some new perennials, and the soil need some extra care. So my plan is to be outside in the hat I bought last year that I never wore. Drag out my bike and roll through the neighbored hood, take pictures!!! The Birds are gathering in the yard now that the snow has melted. The Woodpecker was having fun pecking the side of our barn….we love that Bird!

Finley can now go outside without getting his little feet two cold. We had to go get him a couple of times when the snow was deep because he would stop and curl up from the cold. So his time outside was short.

Yep, I have cabin fever, my temp must be really high because I am dreaming. Have a great Wed…Mary

I am writing a fiction story…

The story will be about a little girl I call Abby who lived in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. I picked this little town because it was a familiar town to me. Not that I lived there, and I have never been there, but I have family that did along time ago. So this is what I am doing.
