This is what we woke to this morning….

DSCN2985

This is what we woke to this morning…everything was incased in ice. The snow sparkled like diamonds. This is our sycamore tree..DSCN2981

This is our garden, our old truck that is a real work horse. And the fence in the back yard. The Elm tree looked like white feathers.DSCN2984

This is the Elm tree in our back yard. The wooden fence is next to our barn. the RV belongs to our neighbor.

Our temp today at it’s high was 16. The low was –2.

We have used a lot of wood so far this winter.DSCN2962 Finley unsure that he really wants to go out. I need my coat on!

Wherever you are, stay warm! Hugs, Mary

Can You Believe??

downton-abbey-lady-edith-wedding

I was so surprised when he left her at the Alter…I didn’t see that coming.

Although the groom ran at least the Downton Abbey stays in the family. 11316_image_file uktv_downton_abbey_s03_e02_22 Thank goodness for the scullery maid Daisy. I think she is a hoot!!!

Miss Hughes is okay too.uktv_downton_abbey_s03_e02_5

Meet you at the Abbey!

I haven’t been doing any crafts….can’t seem to settle down and find something fun to do.

Saturday Arney & I went to see Lincoln…I want to see it again. It was beautiful to watch and I think the message within this historic film is valid today.

Downton Abbey

DowntonAbbey3_2353968b

My first time seeing Downton Abbey was not on PBS, it was Netflix. I knew nothing about the program. I watched it and loved the people and the story, the mansion. I love period movies and this was perfect. I look forward to seeing them all on Sunday evenings.

Do you watch it?

My favorite person is Violet the elder lady.618_uktv_downton_abbey_s02e05_7

If you do watch this? Who is your favorite?

Our News here continues to be…Snow

4186220839_72e22ccb39_z

We have another storm coming in tonight, so along with the white stuff we have ice on the roads all night and in the early morning. The snow plow just covered my mailbox again. Today I stayed home and walked for awhile out in the snow. So refreshing, but cold. I took a warm bath and here I am sharing with you.

I haven’t done anything to creative unless you count making chicken and dumplings for dinner tonight. It smells so good, Arney will love it when he comes home from work.

We keep a towel next to the door for Finley, he is so little that he comes in looking like a snowball.

Stay warm,

My trip to Old Town

Before my trip yesterday into Wally World……

I was shopping for a chair for my desk upstairs, but did not find one…I did find this French Provincial 60’s/70 dresser.

It has good bones…so I bought it for 40 dollars. It is 381/2 inches tall. A perfect height for the new bedroom.

So I cleaned it, sanded it, did a little repair, took of the pulls and painted it a creamy white.

I thought about changing the Pulls, but they are aged so pretty…..so they got to stay. I am so fond of glass pulls and knobs, it took me awhile to make the choice.

So this is how I spent my Sunday. Arney is at work so he will come home to  my something old made new again project.

Have a great week…Hugs Mary

Conniption fit…….

walmart

I went to Old Town second hand store and found a really fun dresser….I will share in another post.

I needed a few things from the market, and a prescription from the pharmacy. I gave the gal my bottle and went to the grocery part to get Milk, bread…you know the Zoom to clean the bathtub. They always tell you at the pharmacy that it will be either 20 minutes or 45 minutes. I think if it is a slow buying day they say 45 minutes to keep you looking…just a thought.

With stuff in basket I am in line at the pharmacy for about 30 minutes, my back is killing me, and the line is not moving. The old man in front of me wants to talk to me…I am in no mood for small talk. Of course there is the possibility that he was hitting on me…..just a thought? The cashier says Hi Mary, they know me well. I get to the window to find only one is ready because they have to call the doctor….But I smile and pay for what is there and now head to the grocery line. There are about 30 places where cashiers should be but there are only 3 that take 20 items or less. So the line is long, I am starting to sweat because I wore a warm top and a hoodie. Tick- tic, Tick-tock, the line is not moving at all. I start to read the magazine that is within reach. That saved me 5 dollars it was boring. People in back of me and in front of me, and nothing is moving. Do I go to another line…what line, no cashiers. I am hot, thirsty and my back is on fire. All of a sudden the line is moving, it has only been about 30 minutes…I may get home soon. Not so fast Mary…someone is having a problem with their credit card…Yikes! And who knows how long this will take….the cashier yells on the phone thing for help and I am ready to have a conniption fit…my Grandmommy used to talk about having them and I was ready.

I am a patient person, I can handle this…when a little voice from behind me says. Lady, Oh Lady…you have a sticker on the back of your pants. I look back to see where it is and it is on my right leg just above the back of my knee. I left it to find that it says 2 dollars on a bright pink tag. Now I am trying to laugh as everyone is aware of the tag.

Then it dawned on me that I had been in line at the pharmacy with this bright pink 2 dollar tag on the back of my white pants…I had walked through the store for about 45 minutes…and now I am checking out after being in line for another 30 minutes or more. I walk out the door and the alarm goes off but no one comes…so I just kept walking. Looking to see if I had another price tag on me that needed to go through the machine…There is no moral to this story, only that I aged waiting in line at Wal*Mart….

What’s Next?

I was feeling pretty proud of myself when I got over the Bronchitis….not so fast Mary!!!!!

14053705-simple-unisex-toilet-door-symbols-or-signs-in-black-and-white

Stomach Flu is not my idea of a good way to start the new year.

Poor little Finley was scared to death of me and the sounds coming from this old body!!!

There are times in life, or at least in my life that I would just rather hang it up….but then after hours of fever, freezing to death, body pain, sinus out of control, and the running to the bathroom, and why is the toilet seat always so darn cold when you are sick?

But here I am! I lived, and my ribs hurt and my sinus is still hurting into my ear….the good news is that at the end (and I do mean end) of the day we just get through it…..this will not go down as a favorite or valid post, but I just had to share one more event that makes me, me and living at the back of the moon.

just a few hours till….2013

tumblr_mfr3fafX1Z1rlh18ao1_250

This has been a year of many ups and downs. Along with some really special times, there was some hard days too. We lost Arney’s Mom this year at the grand age of 93 years. A very low point in this year.Arney had the auto accident that could have killed him. He is a very strong man.

Listens to Learn…love dose not mean that you don’t have to say you are sorry. Sometimes it is the strongest word you could ever say.

Saying good-bye to an old friend, love lost, love found and lost again. You really never know someone until you have made them mad.

Words I need to grow by, get out more, do more, be more, see more, say more, love more, create more, enjoy more.

And spend as much time in the beautiful new loft Arney built for me with love.

Take more time doing the things that make me smile…you all make me smile

   Happy New year!

Count down to 2013…can you believe it is almost here???

No crafts to share…

Thoughts of family running round in my head. The magic of Christmas still hangs in the air.

The gifts have been opened, the food has been ate…the tree is back in his box.But I have loads of great memories that will stay forever.

Today is real special, with my guy home to play in the snow on this winters day.

The count down to 2013 is on our minds, what the future may bring is well out of sight.

Have a wonderful new year…Mary

Five days till Christmas

And all through the house, the presents are wrapped and under the tree. waiting to be given with glee.

No snow on the ground, but there still is some time….white or just bright we all gather round.

No cookies made yet, but Sunday will find me knee deep in baking, cookies and foodies for our Christmas eve delights.

L B and Finn, our sweet little fur friends are a little confused by the fussing about.

The head of the house, the man in my life will find nine days of well deserved rest on the vacation he gleaned.

A eve party is being planned, The Evans and Nell’s will play games, it will be swell. The food will be special, made by loving hearts and hands, gifts will be given, it’s a part of the plan.

The kids will delight in all the family love, and God will be watching from way up above…light hearts much laughter, glad tidings to all, Merry Christmas to all, to all near and far. Rejoice in the season, lets all have a ball.             MEDSCN2861

Just a little TLC

illness

A little illness to bring in the holidays. Bronchitis is not my idea of Christmas Cheer!

Stay well if you can…..
