I knew them as Grandpa and Grandmama.....But they had a whole life before me that I was always happy to hear about. They were hard working people that loved their children and Grandchildren. They believed in God and family. And did the best they could with what they had. They have Kentucky roots (Grandmama) and West Virgina (Grandpa). They came from families that were on the move.... whole families coming to California. Did they all find what they were looking for....I do not think so, but they were from good stock and made things better no matter where they were. They never owned a big fancy home, but the walls around them were filled with love. They gave all that they had and then pushed harder for more. They believed in the future, they wanted me to have everything that they did not. I hope they knew that I had everything I needed because they loved me. I left California and came to Idaho, the goal has been to give our family what they needed, always looking toward the future. A little adventure in my soul!!! We all have a story...a history of families that lived with their hands and heart, looking into the sunset and wondering what was over the hill. Home!!!!

I always enjoy your jaunts down memory lane...learning about your family...lifes adventures...thanks for continuing to share with us.
Hi Mary,
It seems to me that, whether done intentionally or not, the stories we tell through our art and our blogs are most often the stories of our families. Sometimes the stories are pretty, sometimes not, but they are always rooted in our personal history.
Hugs, Susan
Very sweet post, and your tulips are lovely! ♥
Mary, I think your family and your grandparents are rooted in the very best part of what makes life worth living. What would we do without the love of family and friends. It will see us through most anything.
