Charms and the Dressmaker

Thought I would add to this post the charms I have been working on. I made 2 sets of the alphabet and I am not sure of the count. But I am sure it is about 70. These are also going to Bazaar. I have a few still to do. I enjoy making them, it is a good thing because of the amount I have done. You may want to click to enlarge for a better look. The ones in the middle that are flowers shows some of what I did on the alphabet charms. I did some with a peach background and others with a aged look.

I really enjoy the two with the toddler.

The letters are what the lettering was on a 1914 typewriter. I thought they gave a old fashioned look to the charms.

I have been so busy the last couple of weeks, so I have so many of you to catch up on. So much to do and so little time. Add to it the fact that I have been fighting some kind of Bug. Fevers at night and tired in the day. Right now I have beads everywhere. I hope this has found you all having a good ending to summer. Jenny sent over tomatoes and onions, Bells from her garden....Yummmmm! I don't think these pictures really share all that I wanted, but I think you will get the idea. I have two more to finish. Thank you for the support of Jenny. These are strange times.

Freedom of Speech and the all Amarican Boy

I had a very nice Saturday on the Football field with family and the joy of watching my Grandson play football. He even got a touch down, "I was screaming!" I got a sunburn! Other than watching Summit's game, was the pleasure of seeing kids helping kids. I saw a boy reach down to pick up someone on the other team. My feeling was that they just wanted to play the game, to win was special, but not more important than being apart of a team. It was a good day.
Summit age 9....number 20

Just a short post about my daughter Jenny. I am very proud of my stand up girl. Today she found out that her son Summit (9 years old)along with his whole school would not be seeing and hearing the President of the United States. That if it were to be seen at school everyone would have to wait till someone decided yes or no in the future. Jenny went and got Summit, brought him home and watched this amazing speech to America's children from the leader of the free world. Enjoyed these moments and then returned Summit to school. Jenny was the only parent in his school that went and got her child. I am sad for this country and this President who
gave this uplifting talk to our kids while parents were calling him names outside the school where he spoke.

Crafting with Friends

I woke this morning to the ringing of my phone. It was my friend Clarion asking if I was ready to do a craft this morning. So off to her house where 4 of us would learn how to making night lights out of plastic cups. We made twelve of them, and they are adorable. Glue on our figures and smiles and stories to tell...it was fun! Now I am off to eat a bowl of ice cream that I do not need, but will be very happy to eat!!!!!

Teddy Kennedy

It would be hard to go through this day without saying something about Teddy. I remember the young man that seemed to fall in the eyes of this nation. Never to be the leader that JFK was or the passion of Robert. It seemed no matter what he did, he fell short of his brothers legacy. Today as I watched this service, I found myself not thinking of the young man, but the man he had become over time. My Grandmother would have called him with a smile, "a late bloomer. Over the past couple of days I have heard the stories that made me think more and more about this Man, the son, the husband, the father, and the friend. The man who cared and was not afraid to show his passion for the under privileged, the hungry, the face of children that needed care that was not affordable. A man that could have played all day long without a care because of the Kennedy money. But instead walked the halls of the capital and asked for help in the causes of the poor, or the guy that worked hard but still could not afford good care for his family. I got to know in these days the heart of a Lion and the sweetness of a caring
human that left the seeds for all to find wellness in this great United States. I knew him only as a fighter for the basic rights of man, but what I didn't know was how much I was going to miss him. I am afraid that the fear of the unknown will take away his dreams for us all. I am one who loved JFK, and had hopes for Robert, but never gave much thought to this man, because there was a shadow over his past. So with all this said, "I am sad that I didn't give him the honor due in life."

Old Hardware Store

I thought it would be fun to put Arney in front of a old Hardware Store. He is back to work full time and I think he is having a good time. You have all been so good to think of him in your notes. We are good and soon I will have some of my projects to share with you.

There is a Cow in my office.....

I have been away from blogging for a few days. It has been busy. We are still waiting for a work schedule for Arney. Nerves Time! I have been working on charms and little things here and there. But nothing to share yet. I want you to meet Tilly. She is living in my office while I try to figure out what she is going to look like. She is going to be a traveling girl to raise money for a real cow. My Friend Brenda is the lady behind this project...I am just the painter. I know things will settle down after Arney is back to work, but for now this is all I really have to share.
It is going to get really hot the next few days. I hope your summer is going well. Thinking of you with love, Mary

Here is the hero of my heart.

It has been 4 months of watching over my guy and wishing and praying often that the pain would go away. I took this picture yesterday, and he is ready to go back out into the world. He will see his Dr. tomorrow morning, and if all is well, and we are sure that it is. Arney will go turn his paper work in a Lowe's and get a work schedule . He and I stayed outside talking till after dark. thinking and talking about how far this journey has taken us. No money to spend, but lots of love from family and friends, we are blessed. We are grateful. We all have things that make us stronger, better, humbled, and hopeful. And ready for what may come because when all is said and done, we have each other.

Before it gets over a 100 today...

This is Homer or his friend Sissy on the back yard light post. I just know it had breakfast from the Bird feeder. This is the water from the ditch going under our half circle driveway. In the winter when the water is gone, the local cats love to hide in these under ground paths. Something for everyone here on the little farm.

The grass is still cool under my feet, everything is green and fresh. I thought you might like to see a few pictures of our small farm. This is our lovely Maple tree. In the winter it has moss on the trunk. The water you see coming down our ditch is irrigation. We no longer use it because we had public irrigation put in a few years ago. Our Grandkids love to put their feet in it. The water is very cold. We have a well, our water is really good and cold coming from deep into the ground. Welcome to Apple Blossom Cottage.

Arney put the planks down over the ditch. The kids like to set on it.

This is my little Raspberry patch in the front yard next to the ditch. As you can see there are very few left. Arney has been eating them. The gate was a gift from a friend that lives up north.

Yesterday we trimmed all my roses, the wind really gave them a hard time this year.

I know we are all so busy at this time of the year, or some of us is lying under the air conditioning. What ever we are doing??? Stop and look around, the adventure could be right in your own yard.

Just a little bit of glitter and from the Birds nest.

Morning stretch...

You may remember the baby Hawks that live in one of our wonderful tree's. Here is a picture of one of them now. We have found out so much about our little tree family. This is a Juvenile Swainson Hawk. The pictures were taken by Lesley from the JPg Magazine. She walks her dog by our farm and saw the nest...went home and came back with the biggest camera I have ever seen.
Our Hawks will be in the magazine. I think our little Hawks are growing up so beautiful. Who would of thought that a Bird would get us into print.

These are not done. But I wanted to share that I used glitter and they look fun. I used glitter on the flowers and on the pink feathers on the Hollywood shoe. I cut the shoes out of a gift bag I got and thought was cute. Names of the shoes were on the bag also so I put the name on each tag also. I will put the hole in the top and string, I am not sure if I will do anything more than that. I wish the photo's were better. I will finish them this evening. I spent the morning with my Grandson Summit. He is such a little love bug...We will have him this week while his parents are at work. A chance to spoil him a little and love him allot. click on photo to see better.

After 6 or 7 trips to the dentist, I am now less a tooth. It all started with a filling, then the tooth started hurting and it had to be refilled. The tooth had never gave me one minute of pain. More pain and back to the Dentist. :( Then it is decided that I have a possible crack in the tooth. Who cracked the tooth??? So lets drill it down and give it a cap and wait for the new crown. Pain, more pain and a couple more trips to the Dentist. $$$$$$$ The dissension is made that the crown may not work. The Temporary is removed and then put back on just in case it was not on properly. Lets give it a few days with the temporary to see if anything changes before we pull it out. After another long weekend, today it was pulled. A very important tooth, of course they are all important...So tonight I am in pain from the pulling of this tooth. Okay, I am a big baby, but I really wanted that tooth!

I don't work on Friday's, so we will

Arney with the camera...and a new project for me.

I wish this was a better picture. But I wanted to share the start of a project I started today. These dressmakers were in the craft room at our church. Last year I did one of them and enjoyed it. It sold at Bazaar so I got the rest of the dressmakers and will do the best I can to make them special. I am working in Burgundy velvet and laces. I plan to do some beading. I hope you will enjoy my progress.

This is one of three squirrel's that live in our tree's. We give them the unsalted in shell peanuts and they love bird seed, they have to share the bird seed with all the many Birds that live here. They love to tease the dogs. I consider it exercise for them. They are getting fat and sassy with Arney at home. He likes to feed everything. I hope you are all having a wonderful summer....Stay Cool, Mary Arney took this one through the screen door, this bowl is where they find the nuts and seeds. We love to watch them, they live a good life here.
Arney saw the resident Fox a couple of days ago. I think he is living in the wood pile behind the barn. He is fast!
